Organized books, superheroines, toys and badass mice
I’m trying to put together my first poetry collection, which is turning out to be way more complicated than I thought.
I have all these poems, some of which have been published, but trying to gather them into something resembling a reasonably coherent book is challenging. I’ve never done this before, and I have no idea, really, what I’m doing. It’s definitely a work in progress.
With this, and other commitments, it’s been a crazy busy time for me this week. But for the first time since 2013 began, I feel like things are happening. It’s a pretty awesome feeling.

- A Swedish toy company makes a gender neutral catalogue, and it’s news. It’s a good thing, but it further highlight how unusual this is, even in the 21st century.
- Instead we find that female academics are still being excluded from recognition and equal pay in Canada.
- If you want to be taken seriously by The New York Times, you better be a dude.

- A 50-year visual history of The Bell Jar. Is it just me, or is the 50th anniversary cover the most dismissive piece of bullshit possible, especially given the book’s theme? Awful.
- Publishing Perspectives asks if publishers would be better off dropping the word “book”. Um…at a guess, no…?
